Flatwater 2 Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor Trainer
This mentorship process provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Flatwater 2 Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Instructor course.
Mandate of the Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor Trainer
The Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor Trainer is certified to:
- conduct Paddle Canada Flatwater 1 SUP Instructor and Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor courses, and certify instructors at those levels, and
- mentor Paddle Canada Flatwater 1 SUP Instructor Trainer Candidates and Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor Trainer Candidates.
Certification Awarded
Paddle Canada Flatwater 2 Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor Trainer.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites must be completed before the assessment process. The Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor Trainer Candidate must have:
Age
At least 18 years of age.
Membership
Current Paddle Canada membership and Provincial/Territory membership.
Skills Certification
Successful completion of a Touring 1, Surf 1, or River 1 SUP Skills course.
Instructor Certification
Successful completion of an Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor course.
Instructor Trainer Certification
Successful completion of general Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer requirements.
Teaching Experience
Taught four or more Flatwater 2 SUP Skill courses and five or more Flatwater 1 SUP Skill courses, with at least three participants in each course.
Minimum Staff and Certification
A SUP Instructor Trainer of Flatwater 2, River 1, Surf 1, or Touring 1 is required to assess a Flatwater 2 SUP IT Candidate.
The IT Candidate can work with the same IT mentor on both courses.
Environmental Conditions
Mentorships must be held in the Flatwater 2 Stand Up Paddleboard Skills course appropriate locations.
Candidate Assessment
Assessment occurs on an ongoing basis throughout the mentorship process. The IT Candidate must assist on at least two Flatwater 2 SUP Instructor courses. After each course, the IT Mentor will promptly submit an online evaluation form. If more than one instructor trainer is involved with the assessment, they will each submit an online evaluation.
