This mentorship process provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Lake Canoe Waterfront Tandem Instructor Trainer course.

Mandate of the Lake Canoe Waterfront Tandem Instructor Trainer

The Lake Canoe Waterfront Tandem Instructor Trainer is certified to conduct the Paddle Canada Lake Waterfront Instructor Course and certify instructors at that level.

Prerequisites

Age

At least 18 years of age.

Membership

Current Paddle Canada membership and if applicable the Provincial/Territorial membership.

Skills Certification

Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem or Solo Skills

Instructor Certification

Lake Canoe Introduction Tandem or Solo Lake Instructor

Teaching Experience

Taught at least two Lake Canoe Introduction Tandem or Solo Skills courses in the past four years.

Completion of the Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer Online Training module.

Minimum Mentorship Length

The Instructor Trainer candidates must apprentice on a minimum of two Waterfront Canoe Instructor Courses. The candidate can work with the same Instructor Trainer mentor on all courses.

Minimum Staff and Certification

One Paddle Canada Introduction Tandem or Solo Instructor Trainer

Environmental Conditions

Conditions must match those outlined in the Introduction skills course syllabus.
