Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem/Solo Instructor Trainer

This mentorship process provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem/Solo Instructor Trainer course.

Mandate of the Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem/Solo Instructor Trainer

The Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem/Solo Instructor Trainer is certified to:

  • conduct Paddle Canada Lake Tandem canoe instructor courses up to the Intermediate Lake Tandem and to certify paddlers at that level
  • mentor and assess Paddle Canada Waterfront, Basic, and Introduction Instructor Trainer Candidates and certify instructor trainers at those levels, and
  • assist on Lake Canoe Advanced Instructor courses.

Prerequisites

Age

At least 18 years of age.

Membership

Current Paddle Canada membership and if applicable the Provincial/Territorial membership.

Skills Certification

Lake Canoe Advanced Tandem or Solo Skills

Instructor Certification

Lake Canoe Advanced Tandem or Solo Lake Instructor

Teaching Experience

Taught at least two Lake Canoe Tandem or Solo Skills courses and at least one at the intermediate skills level. All courses must have taken place in the past four years.

Taught at least one Lake Canoe Introduction Tandem or Solo Instructor course in the past four years.

Completion of the Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer Online Training module.

Minimum Mentorship Length

The Instructor Trainer candidates must apprentice on a minimum of one Lake Intermediate Instructor Courses.

Minimum Staff and Certification

One Paddle Canada Advanced Lake Instructor Trainer Tandem

Certification Awarded

Lake Canoe Intermediate Tandem or Solo Instructor Trainer

Environmental Conditions

Conditions must match those outlined in the Intermediate Lake skills course syllabus.
