Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer

This mentorship process provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor course.

Mandate of the Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer

The Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer is certified to:

  • conduct Paddle Canada Canoe Poling instructor courses up to the Advanced and to certify instructors at those levels, and
  • mentor and assess Paddle Canada Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer Candidates and certify instructor trainers at those levels.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites must be completed before the assessment process. The Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer Candidate must have:

Age

At least 18 years of age.

Membership

Current Paddle Canada membership and Provincial/Territory membership.

Skills Certification

Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor.

Instructor Certification

Introduction to Canoe Poling Instructor.

Instructor Trainer Certification

Successful completion of general Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer requirements.

Completion of the Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer Online Training module.

Teaching Experience

Taught a minimum of two Introduction to Canoe Poling skills courses, with at least three participants, over a minimum of a five-year period. Alternate experience and qualifications can be considered at the discretion of a minimum of two current Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainers.

Certification Awarded

Paddle Canada Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer.

Minimum Staff and Certification

One Paddle Canada Advanced Canoe Poling Instructor Trainer.

Course Location

Class II-III shallow rivers.

Environmental Conditions

Little to no wind.
