Intermediate Big Canoe Instructor Trainer

This mentorship process provides national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Intermediate Big Canoe Instructor course.

Mandate of the Intermediate Big Canoe Instructor Trainer

The Intermediate Big Canoe Instructor Trainer is certified to:

  • conduct Paddle Canada Intermediate Big Canoe instructor courses, Leader courses, and to certify instructors at that level, and
  • assist on Advanced Big Canoe instructor courses.

Prerequisites

Age

At least 18 years of age.

Membership

Current Paddle Canada membership and Provincial/Territorial membership (as required).

Skills Certification

Big Canoe Style Leader and Intermediate Lake Solo skills or Intro Moving Water Solo skills.

Instructor Certification

Advanced Big Canoe Instructor.

Teaching Experience

Taught a minimum of five combined Intermediate and Advanced Big Canoe Leader courses with a minimum of three participants on each course.

Paddling Experience

Significant experience paddling a big canoe and solo paddling a canoe.

Other Recommended Training

None.

Certification Awarded

Paddle Canada Intermediate Big Canoe Instructor Trainer.

Minimum Staff and Certification

One Paddle Canada Advanced Big Canoe Instructor Trainer.

Environmental Conditions

Environmental conditions must match those outlined in the skills course syllabus.
